LEGEND: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers stands firm in the number one spot on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for a 144th non-consecutive week.
The greatest hits set, which was first released in 1984 on vinyl (it has since been released digitally and on compact disc), sold an additional 9,136 in album equivalent units over the past week. That’s almost 200 copies more than what it sold the previous week.
Legend, the best-selling reggae album of all time, has sold more than 30 million copies globally. It has been certified multi-platinum, gold, and diamond in several countries.
Among the songs featured on Legend are Stir it Up, Get Up Stand Up, Could You be Loved, No Woman Nuh Cry, and Buffalo Soldier.
Legend has been on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart for 752 non-consecutive weeks, the second-longest run, in history. As of October 14 it has spent 1,051 weeks in the Top 100 on the UK Albums chart — the third-longest run in the chart’s history.
Still on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, the recent British Phonographic Industry gold-certified Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy is firm at number two, while former chart-topper Wisdom by Stick Figure is steady at three.
UB40’s Greatest Hits is at four, Stick Figure’s World on Fire is five, while Sean Paul occupies numbers six and seven with The Trinity and Dutty Rock, respectively.
Stick Figure’s Set in Stone dips to eight while Gifted by Koffee and Outside by Burna Boy are nine and 10, respectively.
The remix of Likkle Miss by Skeng and Nicki Minaj tumbles from six to 14 on the R&B/Hip-hop Digital Song Sales chart, while crashing from four to 10 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart.
On the South Florida Reggae chart Don’t Do it by Hopeton Lindo, Marcia Griffiths and Freddie McGregor is number one for a third week.
Marcia J Ball’s Close to You darts from 11 to eight while Guaranteed by Christopher Martin bullets from 13 to 11.
New entries are Brown Eyes (number 22) by Leroy Sibbles and Loyalty (number 23) by Mikey General.
On the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart, Richie Stephens is on top for another week with Reverse the Curse from his chart-topping album of the same name. Fifty by Tanya Stephens and Patra soars from 14 to nine.
New entries are Original Culture DJ by Brigadier Jerry (number 26), In Case You Didn’t Know by Anthony Malvo (number 28), Delilah by Richie Stephens (number 29), and Butterfly by Gramps Morgan (number 30).
