The MOBO Awards, an annual British music award presentation honoring achievements in “music of black origin” will return on November 30.
The announcement was made on Thursday, October 20 via the MOBO Awards official Twitter page.
The staging will mark the 25th anniversary of the awards and will be held at the OVO Arena in London.
“Our 25th anniversary show will be the biggest celebration we have ever created,” said founder Kanya King in a statement on Twitter.
The musical genres often highlighted at the MOBO Awards include hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel and African music.
The awards were first handed out in 1996. The Best Reggae Act that year was by British reggae singer, Peter Hunnigale.
Other winners of the Best Reggae Act over the years include Beenie Man, Mr Vegas, Popcaan, Alborosie, Mavado, Sean Paul, Gyptian, Stylo G and Damian Marley.
Last year’s winner was Shenseea, the first female to have won in the reggae category.
The 2022 nominees will be announced in the coming days.
