After two well-received secular songs, Da’Ville shows his spiritual side on To Jireh, his latest effort. It was released in September by his Global Merchant Music Group.
Written by Da’Ville, it hears the veteran singer in soul-searching mode, reflecting on experiences that led to his conversion to Christianity last year.
“There are so many reasons (that led him to Christ) but just to mention a few here; things like breaking generational curses and changing the imprints left on me through my upbringing and life experiences,” he explained. “However, the most important reason is that I needed a closer relationship with God, my Creator. To seek Him first, our Heavenly Father, and to be able to fulfill my purpose for His Kingdom. All that I’ve been able to do is all made possible by His grace so I owe it all to Him. Also, someday I would like to hear Him say, ‘well done, my good and faithful child’!”
To Jireh is Da’Ville’s third song in less than one year. In late 2021, he released Happy which was followed by a reggae take on Everytime It Rains, the Ace Of Base hit.
They were his first projects since converting to Christianity in July last year. He spoke about how his life has transformed.
“When I made this decision I knew that changing was not going to be an overnight thing. I believe I’ve changed a whole lot. However, there is always room for improvement in my walk of faith, therefore I’m still a work in progress,” he said. “I have to always keep in mind that the enemy is relentless, so for that reason I have to constantly battle within my spirit and kill the flesh. To walk the straight and narrow path, and always remember that I am a spirit living in a physical body.”
The son of deejay Jah Thomas, Da’Ville began recording songs in the 1990s. After a stint with harmony group ARP, he went solo and hit it big with songs like Always on my Mind and This Time I Promise.
