KINGSTON, Jamaica –

The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) said it continues to make strides in disrupting the illicit drug trade, following the seizure of 34.6 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Kingston, valuing over $50 million.

In a statement on Monday, the JCA said that during an operation on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, officers from the JCA’s Contraband Enforcement Team (CET), Cargo Imaging Unit and Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Narcotics Division, detected and seized a 20-foot export container with cocaine concealed in tinned items with an estimated street value of over J$50 million or US$300,000.

According to the JCA, the matter is currently being investigated by the Border Protection Division of the JCA and the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Narcotics Division.
