Formed in 1997, Jamaica’s reggae singing quartet L.U.S.T. – which comprises of vocalists Lukie D, Thriller U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis – is preparing to launch a Silver Anniversary Tour to commemorate their 25th jubilee. With an outstanding repertoire of chart-topping songs, L.U.S.T. is guaranteed to have any audience: whether young or old, local or international, rocking all the way through their performances. The highly anticipated tour is aimed at music lovers in Canada, The United States, Europe, Jamaica and the Caribbean.

The name L.U.S.T. is an acronym for Love, Understanding, Sensitivity and Trust, words that can be used to describe the collective and their music. Lukie D, who is credited as the brainchild for the group, says the family vibe has kept them together through the years. He explains: “We are a family; we have known each other for a long time. The family thing has kept us together, and of course we put our egos aside. This, along with the respect for each other and the great musical talent within the group is the secret behind our longevity. Jamaica needs us, there are no great singing groups around so we as L.U.S.T. plan to keep this forever.”

Thriller U, Singing Melody, Lukie D and Tony Curtis each have a distinct vocal style that they bring to the group, and when the members set out to record new music, each one adds a specific flavor to the session. It is their variances that make the group so unique and allows the partnership to work.

L.U.S.T. rose to prominence after the members performed at the MIDEM 97 festival in France.  That year they scored a number one hit on the local charts with Sweetness Of Your Love (produced by Bankeylous Productions). Subsequent hits followed; two that must be mentioned are You’re The Inspiration and Just As I Am. In 1998, they made history when they won five awards at the Jamaica Music Industry Awards: Best New Artist, Best Live Performance (Group), Best Vocal Performance (Group), etc. The ensemble also took home two Binns Music Awards.

In 2019, L.U.S.T. performed at one of the most anticipated shows in years: the Buju Banton ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ concert at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica; and again, in Queens Savannah Park, Trinidad. That same year they got together at Big Yard Studios and performed a nearly one-hour freestyle set for BBC Radio 1xtra. This was an iconic moment that solidified their place among the elites in reggae music.
