On the strength of two hit songs and the release of his second album, veteran singer Hezron describes 2022 as “the best year I’ve experienced in music”.
M O A M (Man On A Mission) was released in August by Tad’s International Record. It contains 17 songs, including Tik Tok I’m Coming and Save The Children which topped charts in South Florida and New York.
Hezron credits his writing for much of that success.
“Two of the songs on Man On A Mission, Kuja Nyumbani (I Want to go Home), and Smile Today I wrote more than 20 years ago. At this point in my career it may seem that I have gotten better as a songwriter but that’s because I have decided to not hold back, to let the world see who Hezron truly is, despite what people may think, and I have found that approach connects with an even broader audience,” he said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer. “Overall, as an artiste, maybe I have improved because I have found my lane and decided that this is the path I need to be on.”
Interestingly, Hezron covered House of The Rising Sun on M O A M. The song is a traditional folk piece made famous by British band The Animals in the 1960s. M O A M also includes Taxi Driver and Stronger in Love, both featuring saxophonist Dean Fraser and Made For The Battle, done with Turbulence. Smile Today is the latest single from the album.
The St James-born Hezron began his recording career as an R&B singer during the 1990s. His first album, The Life I Live(d), was released in 2014 by Tad’s International Record.
