JULIAN Marley and producer Alexx Antaeus have teamed up for the song Roll which was released last month. It encourages persons to stay positive despite their challenges.
“When Alexx sent me the track it had this kind of progressive, positive energy — that rhythm gave that whole vibe for the song. Roll is a strong, positive message encouraging persons not to give up,” Marley disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
He previously worked with Alexx on a remake of The Paragons’ The Tide Is High, and they developed a strong musical chemistry.
“It feels good working with Alexx; is my bredrin also. The music that we have been making has been flowing naturally. It’s both natural and organic,” he said.
Antaeus, who is from Greece, is best known for his work with The Rolling Stones and Earth, Wind and Fire. He has also collaborated with Jah Vinci and Yaksta.
Roll was released by Monom Records/Digital Minds. The reggaeton-flavoured track premiered on the Marley-driven Tuff Gong Radio on SiriusXM in early December.
Marley and Alexx are putting the final touches on an EP by Marley titled Colors of JuJu which is slated for release in February. It is the follow-up to Marley’s Grammy-nominated album As I Am, which was released in 2019.
“It’s a lot of vibes coming up; the other songs have a lot of vibes in dem. We are keeping it a surprise and, as they come out, you’ll get the full picture one by one,” said Marley.
