Thompkins Jr. found fame with The Stylistics in the early 1970s when they played an integral role in the emergence of Philadelphia soul music. During that decade, they worked with master songwriter, arranger and producer Thom Bell and Linda Creed on songs like Betcha by Golly Wow,  Stop, Look,  Listen to Your Heart, You Make me Feel Brand New and You’re my Everything.

Russell Thompkins Jr.’s unique tenor led the group on those chart-riders.
