Dancehall artiste Popcaan is questioning why he is unable to travel to the United States and has urged his fans to help him start a “first time in America campaign”.

On Thursday, just days after his Great Is He album launch, the artiste took to Twitter to question the travel restrictions.

“Why they let me into everywhere except America? Something not right! Well, I would like to see what America look like,” he said.

He then urged his 600,000 plus followers to start the “1st time in America campaign”.

While he has never been to the US, Popcaan has scored collaborations with several international heavyweights including Drake, Jamie xx, Pusha T, Giggs, Matoma, Wale, Gorillaz and Davido.

In 2017, Popcaan was billed as a headliner for the Red Bull Culture Clash in Atlanta. However, just one day before the show, the artiste’s team released a statement that his travel documents were not processed in time.

The artiste, given name Andrae Sutherland, was also a featured act on the recently held Caribbean leg of international artiste Burna Boy’s ‘Love Damini’ tour.

In response to Popcaan’s tweet, several followers voiced their disappointment on not being able to see him on US soil, while others described a trip to America as “overrated”.

“Chicago should be your first stop when u get in,” said one follower.

Others have instead invited the artiste to Kenya.

“Come to Kenya first, you have been promising since 2012,” one response said.
