It has been 10 years since Liddon Wright made the big decision to step away from the glamor of dancehall music for a more conventional lifestyle. As a producer, he worked with acts such as Busy Signal, Mr Lexx and Delly Ranks.

Wright recently made his debut as an artist with the self-produced Nobody Can Conquer You which celebrates the Christian faith he embraced in 2013.

Based in Florida, Wright maintained ties to music even after his conversion to Christianity, but he gradually returned to recording, this time as a singjay using his given name.

“First, nothing is done before (its) time. I have been spending most of my time producing other people tracks, now I feel it’s my time,” said Wright. He added that there were no butterflies in the stomach when he recorded Nobody Can Conquer You.

“No, I was not nervous. This is my passion, this is what I love to do. I just felt it was time,” he stated.

Nobody Can Conquer You has a West African sound Wright hopes will appeal to gospel and secular fans. It is a far cry from the jamming beats he made for Super Love Music in the early 2000s when he produced songs like Can’t Get Me Down by Busy Signal, Delly Ranks (Food For The Poor), Bunny Rugs (What Are We Fighting For) and Mr. Lexx (Everyday).

Born in east Kingston, Liddon Wright said he was fascinated with music since his youth. It was only natural that he pursued a professional career in that field once he became an adult.

As much as he enjoyed making dancehall/reggae songs, Wright feels he is in a better place today.

“My life has changed in a positive way since I have accepted Christ. I want to continue to use my music and lyrics in a positive way. I want to help spread the Gospel of Jesus through my music,” he said.
