Roots Reggae, R&B crooner Christopher Ellis has once again blessed us with his soulful voice and poetic lyrics in his latest release “Stick Together”. Produced by the Grammy award winning producer, songwriter and artist Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, this reggae Rub A Dub fused track is released by Ghetto Youths International.
The groovy, reggae classic is a great play on sound system culture married with the all too important message of unity and community. Christopher Ellis has always been known for his great lyrical skill and brilliant vocal delivery, and “Stick Together” is no exception.
With the resonating lyrics, “We Stick Together”, Christopher Ellis highlight music as a universal language that breaks down barriers and brings people together. While paying ode to sound system culture, in which DJs and MCs play music through large, portable sound systems at events, the culture shares a sentiment of togetherness.
As the lyrics states “There’s no Trouble on the street, All the girls look neat, Sun shines all day, Rub A Dub on’s repeat, Reggae Music sweet, Dance keep same way”, Christopher Ellis masterfully describes the sound system atmosphere.
“Stick Together” is available for streaming on major platforms.
About Christopher Ellis
Christopher Ellis was born the youngest male progeny to “The Godfather of Jamaican Rocksteady”, the late Alton Ellis and Sigma Ellis. Talented in his own right, the soulful Lover’s Rock, Roots Reggae, R&B crooner has been astounding audiences with his incredibly natural, smooth vocal stylings since the age of 11. The Jamaica Gleaner notes, “His look and sound closely mirror those of his dad, he has beyond a doubt inherited the soulful vocals of his father.”
After his father passed away, Christopher immersed himself into music as an outlet for his pain, the latter leading him to the studio to record a tribute song to his father (2009). But It was after a chance encounter with Stephen Marley, that paved the way to his professional music career. After a coveted invitation from the multi-GRAMMY winner, Christopher to join him at renowned King Jammy’s studio, Christopher delivered his first single entitled, ‘End of Time’, a moving, soul stirring track also featuring beautiful vocal works by Stephen Marley and Jah Cure, inspired by Alton Ellis’ rendition of ‘You Made Me So Happy’.
The prodigious opportunity of working with the Marley Family continued with Stephen Marley and Damian Marley via Ghetto Youths Records family. To date, Ellis has released the aforementioned ‘End of Time’, followed by ‘Willow Tree’, his debut EP “Better than Love” released in 2013 (5 songs), and the hit singles “End of Time” (2013), “Here We Are” (2017), “Only Want You Naked” (2019), “Still Go a Dance(“2020) and “Rub A Dub” (2022). “Music is my passion, and though Reggae / Rocksteady is where I was born, I just want to make music! and I very much look forward to making music of all genres, for people all over the world.”
