Show promoter-turned author Andrew Minott takes his book tour to New York next month for the release of Prove Em Wrong, his autobiography which was released in February.
The Big Apple launch is scheduled for June 14 at Sugar Bar, a Broadway eatery owned by (the late) Nicholas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, the legendary songwriting team.

Minott launched the book at Wynwood Miami during Reggae Month. He is overwhelmed by the positive response.
“The most satisfying aspect of promoting Prove Em Wrong is the massive feedback I keep getting from friends and even total strangers. When I was promoting concerts, people were going because they wanted to see the many different artists on the lineup. With this book, they care about what I have to say, and the various struggles, trials and tribulations I have been through, and it inspires others to know they can also go through those things, and still come out on top,” he said.

Prove Em Wrong was co-written with Kevin E. Taylor. It covers Minott’s early life in his home parish of St. James, a rural parish in western Jamaica, to adulthood in the United States where he migrated to in the mid-1980s.

The book also focuses on his success as a promoter of reggae events in South Florida where he has lived since the early 1990s.

Minott’s first major show as a promoter was Family Day Reggae Bash in November, 1997.

Caribbean Reggae Fest, which took place in November, 2003 at Bicentennial Park, downtown Miami, was his greatest achievement. Featuring Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Buju Banton, it drew an estimated 30,000 fans.
