Popular media personality Khadine ‘Miss Kitty’ Hylton headlines several new additions to CVM-TV’s ‘Sunrise’ show aimed at enhancing the viewing experience and strengthening the network’s position in the critical morning hours.
Experienced broadcaster Dennis Brooks along with Tami Chin Mitchell and Ity Ellis are also joining the lineup as co-hosts of the morning show, the network announced Wednesday, less than nine months after its acquisition by VertiCast Media Group.
All four personalities will lead what CVM said is its “new and improved” Sunrise morning show while renowned broadcaster Stephen McHugh will join CVM newscaster Kerlyn Brown as anchors of CVM News @ 7.
At its content showcase, dubbed the ‘CVMMYS’ held at Palace Cineplex in Kingston, CVM outlined its new direction, which includes an updated logo mark and brand image,
“Today represents another chapter on this exciting journey for CVM with our new look logo and our new look channel which will debut on air in July,” said Olly McIntosh, Chief Executive Officer of CVM. “The enhanced programming featuring Wayne Marshall, Miss Kitty, Dennis, Tami and Kerlyn plus our expanded reach repositions CVM to deliver an unrivaled viewing experience for the Jamaican and Diaspora audience.”
With a renewed commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment, CVM shared that they will be adding fresh original local content through the likes of Wayne Marshall, who will be the host of The Cut – a male-centric talk show set in a local barbershop where celebrity and everyday guests can let their guard down and share their perspectives on a wide range of male issues.
Other programs will include the return of Jamaican favorite, Royal Palm Estate as well as new original shows like Box Lunch Special, Que10, Foolishness and Friday Night Special in addition to international content for viewers of all ages.
Chairman of CVM, Delroy Howell added, “At the heart of the new CVM Television is a dedication to showcasing the best with high quality, reaching every nook and cranny in Jamaica. Since the acquisition, we have completed significant investment and work to expand coverage across the island, repairing and relighting 15 of our 17 transmission sites to their maximum wattage. These sites were previously non-functional,. And with a mobile app in the works for the last quarter of this year, we are more focused than ever to put the spotlight on local culture and talent and export that to the Diaspora and globally.”
CVM Television has upped its ante in local television recently having exclusively aired the FIFA World Cup 2022 as well as exclusive matches from the English Premier League each Saturday and the 2023 NFL Super Bowl.
“The next year will be nothing short of amazing for sports fans,” McIntosh continued. “CVM will continue to broadcast Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool Premier League matches starting in July as well as all Manning and DaCosta Cup action, the 2024 Super Bowl plus the EURO 2024 featuring England, Germany and other European stalwarts.”
