Richie Flo

Although Canada has been his home since 2011, singer Richie Flo has never forgotten his roots in St Thomas. This was the inspiration for his EP, scheduled for release late this year.

St Thomas Mi Born is the title of his mini set which will have seven songs.

One of those tracks, Another Day, is produced by Dean Fraser.

Another Day is in line with the music I typically write; I do both dancehall and reggae, and I always keep my music clean and inspirational. Another Day is about giving thanks just for waking up, even if life is difficult and you are going through hardships,” said Richie Flo.

Dean Fraser

Released in late 2022, Another Day has a roots-reggae flavor, a contrast to most of his earlier songs which are dancehall-based.

He met Fraser through a mutual friend and the veteran musician agreed to work with him.

“The experience was incredible; it was very different. Dean Fraser and the musicians came into the studio, listened to my demo for about a minute or so, then started playing the rhythm,” said Richie Flo.

“Dean was conducting the musicians and myself like we were in an opera. I have worked with multiple producers, but working with Dean Fraser was working with a musical legend.”

Richie Flo is from Bransbury, a district near to Yallahs in St Thomas.

His recording career started as a deejay in 2006 but, by the time he migrated to Canada, had evolved into a vocalist.

His sole album, Life, Love & Music, was released in 2019.
