Seven artists will contest the third Jamaica International Independence Foreign Song Competition (JIIFSC) on July 29 at Shiloh High School Theatre in Snellville, Georgia.

Six of the finalists represent the United States while the other represents Canada. The songs and acts are:

Jamaican in Mi — Leon “Le’Tonick” Denton (Ohio)

More Jesus For Jamaica — Yvonne Johnson (Georgia)

Jamaica 61 — Tania Lou (Canada)

A Jamaica mi Bawn And Grow — Ernel Earlington (Georgia)

Island Life — Nikki Spice (Florida)

Island Jamaica — Marlon Christy (Georgia)

Play Ina We Yaad — Dex Daley (Florida).

They were chosen from 10 semi-finalists. Garfield McCook, an Atlanta-based businessman and JIIFSC founder of the event, is satisfied with the growth of the event. 
“We are attracting new artists every year and the fan base is widening,” he said. 

IRIE by Goddy Son out of New York won the JIIFSC last year. Lavie Lujah from Toronto, who took the inaugural event in 2021 with Certified Yardie, is special guest performer for the final. 

The winner receives $8,000, runner-up $4,000, and third place $1,000.
