Chardel Rhoden

About Chardel Rhoden:

British Reggae songstress, Chardel Rhoden, is on a mystical path. She is in the throes of her musical evolution and it’s evident in her new album for West London-based outfit Stingray Records, simply and aptly entitled, Growth.

The project is a feature of sublime artistry and personal expression, bedded by evocative thoughts and inflamed emotions.  It is Chardel’s coming of age; the crown atop her extensive career, which has seen exponential growth since she embarked on her musical journey over two decades ago.

The jewel in crown is the first single to be released titled “Sing A Love Song”. It adeptly speaks to the pivoting in her style and delivery, slightly shifting the paradigm from Lovers’ Rock to Reggae.

Packed with personal anecdotes

Chardel is not your typical singer. She is a deep thinker who invests much energy into her creative processes from writing to arrangement, through to vocal delivery and performance. She has an invaluable advantage over her peers; she’s the holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Commercial Music from Westminster University.

One of her tutors was music academic, Mykael Riley, one of the founding members of venerable reggae band Steel Pulse. Among the disciplines she learned were Music Industry, Copyright Law, Sound Engineering, Recording Techniques, Performance, Stage Management, Touring and preparing a Business Plan.

It stands to reason that performance was her strongest module, as she distinguished herself in this discipline, putting her craft into practice, touring the world with Hip Hop fusion doyenne, Natacha Atlas. She also had a stint on Island Records with the band Sprinkler before embarking on her solo career in earnest.

She is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, piano, clarinet, recorder) and so is very comfortable in the creative writing and composing space.

The release of this album is timely, as Chardel has decided to take her music to a wider global audience and has been announcing herself to the markets of wider Europe, Asia, Africa, Down Under and South America where her song “In Your Mind has become a huge hit. This is the path she has carted for her career and she’s accelerating towards her goals.

“When I started out in music, I had very big but realistic dreams. That’s why I’ve taken my time to be patient and focused in ensuring that every song I write and record and every performance I give provides added value. I have a long way to go in my journey based on my original goals and I am putting in the work and trusting the process. I believe in making good music for the right audiences and this album is testament to that. I am expecting big things on an international scale.”

“I am really pleased with the production, and I give credit to Stingray, Dillie and Black Metro Music as well as all the musicians who worked together to make this project a success.”

Chardel hails from the musically fertile fields of North West London and has been influenced by the eclectic musical scene that exists in those precincts to this day.

She was the inaugural winner of 2014’s Reggae Star Factor competition in London. She has been voted Artist of the Month by various radio stations across the UK on numerous occasions ,is the third -time AWSL Female Artist of the year recipient and proud to be have been presented with Stereograph Foundation UK, Gold Recording Artist award.

With two albums and one EP in her pocket book, Chardel Rhoden is now a highly sought after vocalist for recordings and live performances and with the release of “Growth” she is saying “Look out world, here I come!”
