I Give You Love, the latest album by Mykal Rose, is being released on September 15 by Donsome Records.
Produced by Adrian Hanson, principal of that New York-based company, it comes two years after the two were introduced to each other by impresario Don Hines.
According to Hanson, working with the former Black Uhuru singer was simple as both share a similar approach to recording.
“Well, I know it would all depend on the riddim I gave Mykal, so I carefully came out with riddims that would bring out the roots side of him,” said Hanson, who has been producing music for nearly 20 years.
The album contains the title track, as well as Babylon Burning, World Crisis and Steppin Like A Murderer which features Bounty Killer.
Rose has released a number of albums since his departure from Black Uhuru in 1985, the year that group won the first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album with Anthem.
Hanson revealed that it took two years to complete I Give You Love, with production starting shortly after he and Rose first met.
I Give You Love, the song, is recorded on the Freedom Sound Riddim compilation album which was released by Donsome Records in 2021. That project contains songs by Anthony B, Richie Spice and Lutan Fyah.
