LEGENDARY REGGAE GROUP, THE PIONEERS, HAVE COVERED THE BEATLES’ “YOU WON’T SEE ME!”

Legendary Jamaican vocal harmony group The Pioneers have collaborated with ace producer Clive “Azul” Hunt on the brand-new version of a Beatles’ album cut from 1965 You Won’t See Me.

You Won’t See Me first appeared on the 1965 album Rubber Soul, a hugely underrated album track written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and produced by George Martin. The track went on to become quite the sound system hit in Jamaica when The Clarendonians covered the song for Coxsone Dodd at Studio One in 1966. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jamaica’s relationship with The Beatles.

With cover songs proving to be incredibly popular, ‘Fab Four’ band members are quoted as expressing their love for all things Jamaican in a number of interviews. Another chart-topping song in the late 60s, and perhaps one of the most famous songs about a horse ever written, was Long Shot By The Bucket by The Pioneers, a song that went on to convert a generation of Brits into reggae fanatics.

You Won’t See Me is the first single from the forthcoming Rub-A-Dub Soul album on VP Records which features foundation artistes such as Barry Biggs, The Tamlins and Little Roy plus contemporary singers Tarrus Riley & Gentleman and a number of new talents from around the world such as Nai-Jah, Yannis Odua & Danakil.
