Eighteen months is a long time for an artiste to go without releasing a song, but Omari kept busy writing and recording during that period, waiting for the right time to return.
He does so with Firm And Strong, a song produced by Da Global Base.
The gospel singer told the Jamaica Observer that its message sums up his outlook during tedious COVID-19 lockdowns.
“Being positive is the only way to move your life in a positive direction, it is the power that keeps you going, that keeps you mobilized,” he reasoned. “The Bible puts it this way: The joy of the Lord is your strength. If you don’t keep a positive mindset in Jamaica, or even the world, you won’t have the strength to keep firm and stay strong.”
The Manchester-born artiste (real name Omari Edwards) announced himself over 10 years ago with songs like the Danny Browne-produced Help and Jehovah Guide Me, which was produced by Hub Entertainment/Romeich Records. Both are from Heal Jamaica, Heal The World, his sole album which was released in 2011.
Some of Omari’s recent songs include Healed for Troyton Music.
He wanted to send a strong message with his first song in almost two years, and believes that has been accomplished with Firm And Strong.
“I may not have put out a lot of songs, but I have gained a wealth of knowledge and wisdom and that will definitely translate to me being a more effective leader to the people and the society,” said Omari.
