Gentleman, one of the biggest Reggae stars in Europe, has joined forces with the legendary Jamaican producer Clive Hunt for a modern-day interpretation of an ultra-classic anthem by The Beatles “Help”.
The original Lennon and McCartney song was released in 1965 on the album/soundtrack for the film of the same name and is said to be John Lennon’s (with a little help from Paul McCartney) reaction to the rise of Beatlemania and the stresses that surrounded their early success and by his own admission is one of his most honest songs.
Surprisingly “Help” doesn’t seem to have been previously covered in a Reggae style and this version by Gentleman, backed by Clive Hunt and his hit squad of musicians, which include Robbie Lyn, Dean Fraser, Kirk Bennett, and many more, makes this version truly unique. Staying true to the original “Help” clocks in at just over two minutes Gentleman is able to express Lennon & McCartney’s poignant lyrics in such a heartfelt way that it leaves the listener wanting more.
