KINGSTON, Jamaica —
As Sting organizers get ready to usher in the show’s return to its home in Jamworld, Portmore, they’re not the only ones excited to experience a renaissance.
Confirming her grand return to the Sting stage with official posters on Thursday, dancehall artiste D’Angel is ready to ‘shell dung’ Jamworld.
“Yuh see how long dem hold on pan mi shirt. It nah guh be nothing normal when Angie touch the stage Boxing Day,” D’Angel told Observer Online. “I have been waiting for this moment for so long. They said I was banned for five years and its been a decade since I performed at Sting. Time come now.”
D’Angel was banned from performing on the Sting stage in 2013 with Isaiah Laing indicating at the time that the ‘Stronger’ entertainer would not even be able to attend the show as a patron.
At the time, D’Angel, who was not booked for the event, had climbed on stage to square-off with Ninja Man in a lyrical battle. But the entertainer’s performance got a little bit too raunchy for Laing who initiated the ban immediately after the event ended.
D’Angel said after watching from the sidelines for years, she was ecstatic when she received the call to perform.
“It was a mixture of them recognizing D”Angel’s talent and the people’s cry. The promoters called me almost two weeks ago, I was just waiting on the official posters to let my fans know,” she said. “I have been working hard over the years, one of dancehall’s most consistent entertainers and people cannot go round mi ting. When me touch the Sting stage unu just know sey mi ago give it my all.”
An unapologetic fashionista, D’Angel says she performs her best, when she looks her best so patrons can expect to be wowed by her outfit.
“My designer is going all out for my Sting outfit so you can just expect sexy, expect fierce, expect D’Angel at her best because when I look my best, I perform at my best,” she said.
When asked about what to expect from her set, D’Angel said fans should be prepared to be ‘wow-ed.’
“Mi ago show the world what I have to offer. It’s going to be the best of D’ Angel so just come expecting just that. I’ve grown and matured so much in this business and that’s what patrons will get to see. Nah pree no negativity just joy and happiness for my fans.”
