In the video for Mood Swing, his latest song, DaJourney opens up about his psychological challenges to his counselor. Those struggles have made his character’s life unbearable.
That graphic scene sums up Mood Swing’s message. The Toronto-based gospel artist believes many persons with mental health problems refuse to seek professional help, sometimes resulting in things going awfully wrong.
“I have first-hand seen individuals dealing with various types of mood swings, who unfortunately swing into a cover-up mood to deal with the feeling. It stays there and gets bottled, and from this, I have seen relationships fall apart; families, businesses, careers, ministries,  just to name a few, when all this could have been avoided by even just an honest conversation with an honest person,” he explained. “Mood Swing was birthed from unfortunate events like these, and challenges we face daily. I will not attempt to say that my mood swings are anyone’s mood swings, but I will encourage anyone to look deep inside, be honest with yourself, and seek help.”
The song and video were released in January. They start what DaJourney hopes will be another productive year for him, following 2023 when he and Sone G won the Sterling Gospel Award for Collab of The Year for Sweet Eeh.
The Kingston-born singer also produced Conquest, the EP by gospel deejay, Prince Saj.

DaJourney likens Mood Swing to a purge of the soul.
“Writing this song and truly expressing what I feel on most days, or in most situations was humbling, and honest. I got a chance to speak my truth without making it seem like I have all the answers, because your truth does not have to have the solution, but it puts you on a journey to find peace. It was always important to me, to have honesty in my lyrics, as I portray the goodness of God and the path God takes me on,” he said.
