Legendary reggae singer Mykal Rose is back for more in 2024 with the release of his new single “SENSI,” alongside reggae rocker Skygrass. Released on the Future Sound of Reggae imprint, “SENSI” is a torch-passing remix of the hit song Sensimilla, made famous in 1980, by Mykal Rose, as lead singer of the Grammy-winning, Black Uhuru. The single is available from Friday, February 23, followed by the release of The Future Sound of Reggae Vol. 3 collection on March 15, 2024.

In addition to this blazing new single for Future Sound of Reggae, a new collaboration with fellow reggae legends Inner Circle will be available later in the spring via Soundbwoy Ent/DubShot. The song is titled “Reality” and will be their second collaboration in recent years, the first being another ganja anthem, “Turn Up the Weed.” In late Spring Mykal Rose with US-based Subatomic Sound System and UK songstress Hollie Cook, will be releasing his first single from their forthcoming full-length album on DubShot Records/Controlled Substance Sound Labs.

For over 25 years, Mykal Rose has been recording and performing his brand of militant, hardcore Jamaican music to the delight of reggae fans around the world. As a solo artist, with Black Uhuru, and back as a solo artist, the “Ruff” Rose has achieved great success throughout his career, even as different Jamaican musical styles have phased in and out of popularity.

Simon “Skygrass” Bowden has always had a natural lyrical ability. The Kingston, Jamaica-based musician established his band with Rasheed McCallum and Suane Brown back in 2013. Excelling in poetry at a very young age, he was always fascinated by words and quotes. He developed a love for reggae and dancehall music at age 7, hearing songs from Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks playing in Half Way Tree and on the bus ride home from school. As a guitarist and touring musician in his teens, he shared the stage with artists such as Third World and Maroon 5. Skygrass has kept true to his name and entered the world of recorded music from the grassroots by building his own studio and releasing music independently. With an eclectic reggae experience under his belt he soon collaborated with artists Kabaka Pyramid, Steve Newland of Rootz Underground, and remix of “Pass the Kush” with reggae veteran, the late Frankie Paul. This collaboration with Mykal Rose on “Sensi” grows similar branches by bringing a song new meaning to a new generation.

This is the first official single to be released from the Future Sound of Reggae Vol. 3 compilation for the Brand New Machine label, distributed by New York’s DubShot Records. The second single will be available March 1st, and the album will be dropping March 15th, 2024.
