Singer/songwriter/musician Hezron Clarke’s latest single,“Natural Woman”, is a heartfelt tribute to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024. The poignant lyrics heard in “Nachral Ooman” (the Jamaican patois spelling for “natural woman”) written and performed by Hezron and produced by Tad’s Record, were inspired by the instinctive nurturing and resilience possessed by the strong women in Hezron’s life, including his wife and mother, female friends and colleagues, and women all over the world who struggle for equality in education, healthcare and the workplace.
“Natural Woman” is an uplifting, sensitively considered tribute to women’s remarkable traits including their ability to give life and nourish offspring. “The battle scars of her stretch marks are so commendable, her beauty is beyond the tangible,” sings Hezron on ““Natural Woman” So “Natural Woman” is a reaffirmation of the special characteristics and the mystical powers of women; without them, humanity wouldn’t exist because there wouldn’t be wombs to conceive life and being the kind of artist that I am, I was compelled to use my voice to defend femininity.”
Hezron released his third album M.O.A.M. Man on a Mission album via Tad’s Record on August 19, 2022. Praised by critics, fans and musicians alike, M.O.A.M. debuted at number 5 on the iTunes Reggae chart, topped Richie B’s Jamaica Music Countdown and the South Florida Reggae album charts and earned a Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) nomination as Best Reggae Album. In January 2023, Hezron performed a gorgeous acoustic rendition of the album’s inspiring title track “Man on a Mission” (a number one single in Jamaica, South Florida and New York City) for the Recording Academy’s Press Play series, which can be viewed on Grammy.com.
“Natural Woman” makes people happy,” says Hezron, “and it offers a reassertion of the extraordinary value of our women. We have to make sure that we don’t stray from that and it’s important that reggae express this message.”
