Sone G

Whenever family, friends, or associates face challenges, Sone G usually points them to spirituality to deal with their difficulties. That is what he did recently when someone close sought his advice.

Their interaction prompted him to write Find A Way, a song released on March 8. It is produced by Joey 2 Kool of Guyana, who has worked extensively with dancehall star Dexta Daps.

“This song was written because I was moved by a close friend of mine who is dealing with some real-life struggles and so we turn to the only person we know can truly help… God. Look to Him to find a way to remedy these situations,” Sone G told the Jamaica Observer.

Find A Way is the first release from New Man, the singer’s EP, scheduled for release in July. A ballad, it differs in sound from most of his previous songs with a dancehall feel.

“I consider myself to be a versatile artiste so this is just another variation of the type of music I can do. I still am a dancehall/reggae gospel artiste, though. I just added a little uniqueness to the presentation,” he said.

From Rocky Point in Clarendon, Sone G worked with several producers on the seven-song EP including DaJourney and Nigel Lewis. He and Toronto-based DaJourney won Collab of The Year for Sweet Eeh at last year’s Sterling Gospel Awards in Kingston.

Describing it as “truly a gem”, Sone G has high hopes for the yet-titled project.

“I knew I had something special after the Lord began to deposit these songs in my spirit. Everything was confirmed and solidified after going on fasting and really getting to know what the Lord’s leading was for the project,” he said.

“Many of my friends in the reggae and gospel community are raving about it, saying it is Grammy-worthy,” he said.
