Mother’s Day is a special time, but Colin “Iley Dread” Levy does not wait until May 8 to show his love for Veronica Sterling, his mother. A former singer, she was the person who inspired him to make music a career.
Iley Dread is the driving force behind ‘Wonderful Vibrations’, three events celebrating Mother’s Day in Ontario, Canada. Scheduled for May 10-12 in Toronto, Pickering, and North York in Ontario, they feature Luciano, Turbulence, Lieutenant Stitchie, Singing Melody, Thriller U, Richie Stephens, Norris Man, Glen Washington, Natty King, and Professor Nuts.
“My mother is the biggest inspiration in my life. I am inspired by her love for humanity. Mothers are the greatest gift to mankind. Even though I am celebrating these three days dedicated to mothers, every day is Mother’s Day for me. My mother is very influential from birth until now. She is a songstress and her voice is what attracted my dad. My mom was promised a recording contract and music career by my dad which didn’t come to fruition. My mom is my number one female vocalist who inspired me to sing and write music,” Iley Dread disclosed.
Veronica Sterling is also the motivation for Mama Prayer, the first single from his upcoming gospel album. She suffered a nervous breakdown over 40 years ago; because of her psychological challenges, she presently lives in a nursing home in Kingston.
Her ordeal influenced Iley Dread, her eldest child, to help persons in similar situations.
“The importance of the Mother’s Day shows doing well is not limited to my financial gains but also to giving to a mental health foundation which is near and dear to me. My mom has suffered from mental illness since I was nine years-old until today. My dream and desire is to build an institution that is dedicated to people struggling with mental illness and autistic children,” he said. “My two eldest children suffers from autism. I know firsthand the worldwide struggle people are facing not getting the help or proper treatment needed to cope with their daily life.”
Wonderful Vibrations are organized promoted by Kings of Kings Productions, the company Iley Dread started in 1995.
