After entering at the very bottom and spending exactly twelve weeks on The Foundation Radio Network NY Charts, veteran Guyanese reggae artist Winston Irie has finally pierced through and is now in the top 10. To be exact, his song Orthodoxy is currently sitting in the #9 spot.
Irie, a committed Ethiopian Orthodox, said that he was inspired to write Orthodoxy after learning the true history of Ethiopia and expanding his knowledge about Emperor Haile Selassie, whom he refers to as the defender of the faith. His passion and awareness of the African nation, its culture, and religion can be heard and felt on the track.
Orthodoxy was produced by Derrick Barnett (of The Statement Band) and Bernard Joseph (of 4/20 Records and Selective Security Band). It is the lead single from Winston Irie‘s upcoming album, a project he is presently working on with the aforementioned, Selective Security Band. While his fans await the LP, Irie would like them to know that all his songs, including Orthodoxy, are authentic, conscious, roots-reggae music.
