Veteran dancehall deejay Chaka Demus is now savoring one of his proudest moments in his career, as he has collaborated with his son Marvelous on a song titled Proud Jamaican, which is paying homage to Jamaica.

“This is my legacy, and mi feel good to know say mi have a son who a walk inna mi footsteps,” Chaka Demus, one half of the internationally acclaimed duo, Chaka Demus and Pliers, told THE STAR.

“A long time mi know say him talented musically, because when him a little baby and mi a deejay pon one sound, him use to creep go for the mic. Mi really feel proud a him; and mi see him a do him engineer work and just a set him thing,” added Chaka Demus.

Proud Jamaican is produced by the father-son duo on Chaka Demus’ Bright Star Productions recording label.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shaka Demus is no stranger to finding hits as the song Murder She Wrote, which is recorded with Pliers, is one of reggae’s all-time classics.

“This is definitely going to be a standout track as the melodies are catchy and the lyrics thought-provoking. I am sure it will resonate with audiences worldwide, while inspiring pride and unity among Jamaicans and music lovers alike,” said Chaka Demus. “Mi hope it go really far and give mi son the spotlight, because mi a make a EP with him and mi want him go far.”

“The song just a talk about some of we unique culture, like eating rice and peas every Sunday for dinner. We just a big up the place and a let people know that we are a country rich in history,” added Chaka Demus.

Marvelous, whose given name is Marvin Taylor, is Chaka Demus’ firstborn. He is the owner and operator of Positive Vision Studio. He has been honing his skills on the microphone, opening for Chaka Demus and Pliers in countries such as the United Kingdom, France, USA, and Italy.
