Marcia Griffiths, known as the “Queen of Reggae”, has been a trailblazer in the music industry for more than five decades. Her illustrious career includes hits like I Shall Sing, Feel Like Jumping, Dreamland, and Young, Gifted and Black. With Mek we Dance, Griffiths continues to showcase her timeless talent and ability to connect with
audiences of all ages.
It was just on the weekend that Griffiths attended the celebrity wedding of Stephanie Wash and Etienne Maurice, son of Sheryl Lee Ralph, at Good Hope Estate in Trelawny, and thrilled guests with her iconic Electric Boogie.
“I love the rhythm of Mek we Dance, really love it! It’s a happy song, danceable, and I enjoyed recording that track.” says Griffiths. “This song is all about celebrating life and enjoying every moment. I hope it brings as much joy to listeners as it did to me while recording it.”
In commenting on the production process, Griffiths noted that “Clive Hunt is one of the best producers and musicians that I’ve known in the business, and I know that whatever he does, the finishing product is very professional and it has so much potential of going out there and doing great things, being a hit song”.
Mek we Dance was, interestingly, also written by another popular Jamaican artiste, Omi, known globally for his hit song Cheerleader.
Mek we Dance is being distributed by record label Ineffable records and was produced by Hunt under his Iconic Azul company. It is now available for streaming and download on all major platforms.
