Former reggae and dancehall artiste Chevelle Franklyn (now gospel artiste) is set to receive a long-awaited Grammy Certificate for her significant contribution to Shabba Rank’s Grammy-winning album of 1992.
The award will be presented at a special event organized by Back 2 Da Future Music Limited at the Audi Showroom in Jamaica on Tuesday, August 1
Franklyn will be honored for her backing vocals on Shabba Ranks’ Grammy-winning album Xtra Naked (1992).
“I’m humbled to have been a featured artiste on numerous hits alongside legendary Jamaican artistes like Shabba Ranks, earning me a Grammy Certificate. Those experiences served as a valuable training ground for my future endeavors. Years later, I received another Grammy Certificate for my background vocals on a project with Elton John.
“After dedicating my life to Christ I was blessed with yet another Grammy Certificate for my feature on Israel Houghton’s The Power of One album. This journey is now a testament to God’s glory. I’m truly grateful for the recognition of my labor of love and appreciate the celebration from my own people,” said Franklyn. “A massive thank you to Back 2 Da Future for their hard work and dedication to representing musicians and artistes like me with excellence.”
