The award-winning ‘Godfather of African Reggae’ Victor Essiet (The Mandators) is set to receive a special award on the United Nations International Peace Day in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja, in his home country, on Saturday, 21st of September, 2024. His nomination for the Global Melody Mastermind merit award is in recognition of his contributions, exceptional talent, creativity, and innovation in shaping the music industry on a global scale, setting him apart as a Legend. His commitment to human development and other forms of humanitarian services has set him apart as a distinguished philanthropist who has, in no small measure, contributed to the entrenchment of peace in the community and society in total.
The award is to be conferred on Victor Essiet this month at the Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria, West Africa at 11am on the 21st of September.
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations Resolution No. 36/64 and on 7 September, 2002, the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 55/282 affirmed the 21st of September the same year as the United Nations Day Of Peace to be celebrated yearly. This year’s symposium in Nigeria is organized by, May Peace Prevail On Earth International, a non-profit, non-sectarian, member supported organization in Nigeria in affiliation with the United Nations.
Victor Essiet (The Mandators) known as the ‘Godfather of African Reggae’ has made a big impact with great critical acclaim in the world of Reggae music in the motherland of Africa over the past decades. He has already been an established star in his African homeland, also as the first African artist with a platinum selling album that had huge sellout concerts. Essiet established an impressive presence in America from the mid 90s till date with his music and touring , backed by his Los Angeles based Mystic Records label.
