Nine years ago when he started his recording career as Prince Paradise, Mystic Warrior was determined to maintain the rich musical legacy of Clarendon, his home parish. In August, he took his boldest step to achieve that with the release of Be Fine.
The dreadlocked singer co-produced that song for his Lee Benjamin Recordz with Rock Valley Recordz. He believes it has the goods to drive him up the charts, calling it “timeless” and “something people can relate to.”
Be Fine was launched amid much fanfare at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston, with Mystic Warrior treating patrons to a solid performance of the song. His management also debuted the video for the single, which they hope will bring him added exposure.
Mystic Warrior has done the promotional rounds since the release of Be Fine. He has performed on several high-profile shows in Kingston, including the launch of Bunny Wailer’s remastered Rock N Groove album.
Be Fine is the lead single from Mystic Warrior’s EP, which is projected for release in 2025.
As Prince Paradise, he recorded a number of songs which did not reach the mainstream. Since his change of moniker to Mystic Warrior, he has released songs such as Mastermind, True Love and Dem A Rush.
Clarendon has an enviable music history. It is the birthplace of artists such as Toots Hibbert of Toots and The Maytals, Derrick Morgan, Millie Small, Freddie McGregor, Everton Blender and Jahmali.
