Sean Paul receives Honorary Degree.
Grammy-award winning dancehall artiste Sean Paul Henriques received an honorary doctorate during Friday’s graduation ceremony at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech).

Sean Paul was conferred with the Doctor of Letters Honoris Causa after a biographical sketch of his accomplishments was read. He was then invited to sign the register of the graduates.

The artiste found stardom in 2002 with the success of his second studio album, Dutty Rock. He had enrolled in UTech in pursuit of a degree in hospitality and tourism management, but his passion for music ultimately led him to leave before completing his studies.

He went on to receive numerous awards for music, and received the Order of Distinction from the Jamaican Government in 2019 for his contribution to the global popularity and promotion of reggae music.

UTech President Dr Kevin Brown had previously expressed pleasure in ring the men for their contribution to the development of Jamaica.
