In 2025, reggae enthusiasts will celebrate the life and music of the iconic Gregory Isaacs with Cool Ruler: The Musical, a theatrical experience like no other. This special production marks what would have been Gregory Isaacs’ 75th birthday and brings his inspiring story to the stage, accompanied by a live five-piece band and stunning vocals by Terence Wallen.

The Life of Gregory Isaacs
Born on July 15, 1950, in Fletcher Land, Kingston, Jamaica, Gregory Isaacs became one of reggae’s most beloved voices. Known as the “Cool Ruler”, Isaacs was described by The New York Times as having “the most exquisite voice in reggae.” His music defined lovers rock and captivated audiences worldwide during the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s.

From his early recording debut in 1968 with Another Heartache to his work with the Concords, Gregory’s passion for music was unstoppable. In 1973, alongside Errol Dunkley, he founded the African Museum label, releasing hits like My Only Lover, credited as the first-ever lovers rock track. Isaacs went on to record over 200 albums, including the timeless Cool Ruler and Soon Forward, and delivered crossover classics such as Night Nurse and Rumors.
