Dancehall artiste D Angel is set to host her annual Christmas treat in her hometown of Spanish Town on Monday, December 23.

The entertainer said that, despite several financial challenges over the years, she remains committed to spreading cheer in her community as the highly anticipated event is a blessing to the less fortunate.

“This charity is something I hold dear to my heart. I started it out of love and, over the years, I have seen how it has helped the people of Spanish Town. I love that they can come out and get well-needed food items because a lot of them are really in need,” she said. “So although it gets hard sometimes, I try to go all out to ensure it happens. I love spreading love in the season of love. That is what my foundation is all about. Sometimes it may be at the very last minute, but my sponsors always come through to offer assistance and my amazing fans always donate what they can.”

Outlining that the cost of living in Jamaica is increasingly high, D’Angel said her Christmas treat is sometimes the only source of a meal for some people during the season.

“Hunger is an awful thing, and it hurts even more at Christmas, and some of the people that come out to my give-back initiative, they really do not have it. When they can come out and get chicken and rice and oil and vegetable, snacks, that’s a full meal they can go home and prepare,” she said. “I am happy that I am able to extend that kind of help to others. My son, Marco Dean, and I love seeing the smiles on their faces when they come to collect their packages, especially the elders.”

The I’m So Blessed singer’s Christmas initiative is set for Spanish Town Municipal Park, and D’Angel is hoping to issue at least 500 care packages.

She is pleading with anyone with the ability to assist to do so.

“It’s Christmas and so if you find yourself with something extra, try to help another,” she said.

Those interested in donating can do so via the GoFundMe account set up for the initiative at https://gofund.me/78aa3e13.
