Reggae singer Determine, known for his mid-1990s hit single Kette Drum in collaboration with Beenie Man, has died.
The singer, born Rohan Bennett, passed away Thursday after a battle with stomach cancer. He was 52.
Artiste manager and the mother of three of the singer’s children, Paula Francis confirmed his passing.
In 1995, Determine scored a major hit with the iconic Bobby Digital-produced single Kette Drum in collaboration with Beenie Man. It was one of several singles on the popular rhythm which also drove hit songs like Cocoa Tea’s Holy Mount Zion, Seek God by Bounty Killer and ‘Til I’m Laid to Rest by Buju Banton.
Kette Drum was Determine’s third song, following Zion Hill and Full Speed (with Terror Fabulous). Other songs include Searching and Mi Go Through Dat. However, Kette Drum remains Determine’s signature hit song.
