Dancehall siren Shenseea has won her second MOBO award, being named Best Caribbean Music Act at the awards ceremony in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.
The Puni Police singjay beat out fellow nominees Spice, Popcaan, YG Marley, Valiant and Skillibeng to take the prize.
Dancehall kingpin Vybz Kartel received the Impact Award at the ceremony, which took place in New Castle at the Utilita Arena.
The MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards are an annual British music award presentation honoring achievements in ‘music of black origin’ including hip,-hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel and African music.
Shenseea won the Best Reggae Act award at the 2021 staging of the MOBO. She created history becoming the first female to win in that category, which was introduced in 1996.
The category was renamed Best Caribbean Music Act for the 2022 staging.
The MOBO Awards were founded by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell.
