Reggae icon and gospel singer Carlene Davis released her 13th gospel album, Songs of Zion, on February 28 via VPAL Music and Glory Music. Blending gospel, roots reggae, and Nyahbinghi, the album reflects her Jamaican heritage and celebrates God’s Kingdom as a place of peace and spiritual refuge.
Co-produced with her husband, Tommy Cowan, Songs of Zion follows her 2018 album, The Assignment, continuing her faith-driven reggae journey. The album features renowned Jamaican musicians, including Dave Green (drums), Dale Brown (bass), Othneil Lewis (keyboard), Dean Fraser (saxophone), and Kenroy “Shortman” Mullings (guitar), enriching its sound.
With over 23 albums and award-winning singles like “Dial My Number,” Davis holds one of the most significant catalogs by a female Jamaican artist. Honored with Jamaica’s Order of Distinction in 2010, she has toured globally, spreading gospel reggae.
The album’s first single, “Rapha,” released in March 2024, gained international traction. Songs of Zion is part of a three-album release by Glory Music, alongside Now (The Spoken Word) by Pastor Sara Cowan and Reggae Sax (Gospel Edition) by Verlando Small.
Available now on all streaming platforms, Songs of Zion will be featured on Glory Music’s upcoming tour, inviting participation from organizations across Jamaica and the diaspora.
