You Are I, is Kenya’s first Roots Reggae EP,, marks a pivotal moment in the artist’s evolution. Recorded in Atlanta in October 2024, In and Outta Love blends the warmth of old-school Lovers Rock with the urgency and depth of contemporary reggae. The track and EP was produced by Alfred “TippyI ” Laurent of I-Grade Records, alongside the renowned Zion I Kings production collective, Kenya recalls, “Their signature sound—rooted in deep, authentic reggae while embracing modern textures—was the perfect match for this song. We created something that feels both timeless and fresh.

With the new EP, You Are I, Kenya ventures deeper into the foundation of Roots Reggae, with songs exploring themes of identity (I N I), perseverance (Lift Up My Head), and self-worth (You Are I). Each track carries its own story, yet collectively, they form a narrative of growth, self-discovery, and resilience.

Kenya reflects, “Each track on You Are I tells a different story, but they all connect—whether it’s love, identity, faith, or self-discovery. This project is my first full Roots Reggae EP, and every note, every lyric, was created with intention.”

Kenya concludes, “This project is more than just music—it’s a reflection of my journey, my roots, and my voice stepping fully into the world of Roots Reggae. You Are I is my first full Roots Reggae EP, and every track carries a piece of my soul, my experiences, and my truth. From love to identity to faith, these songs tell stories that I hope will resonate with people on a deep level. My goal has always been to create music that is real—music that makes you think, makes you feel, and reminds you that you’re not alone in your experiences. I give thanks for this moment, for the growth, and for the opportunity to share this with the world. This is just the beginning.”
