A LARGE TURNOUT AS BARRY G AND DAVID RODIGAN ROLL BACK THE YEARS IN NEW YORK CITY!

 Veteran disc jockeys David Rodigan (left) and Barry ‘G” BACK in 1985, dancehall music was emerging from the Kingston and London underground into the mainstream. Disc jockeys Barry ‘Barry G’ Gordon and David Rodigan played major roles in that transition. Last Saturday, the two renewed their rivalry at Resort World Casino in Queens, New York. It marked the 30th anniversary of their memorable clash at Empire Roller Rink in Brooklyn.  Both are still on top of their game. VP RECORDS TO RELEASE EDDIE MURPHY’S LATEST REGGAE SINGLE “OH JAH JAH” ON JANUARY 27!

Eddie Murphy— ACTOR Eddie Murphy is taking another crack at reggae, with the song “Oh Jah Jah” which is scheduled to be released January 27, by VPAL Classic, the digital arm of VP Records. Donovan Williams, VPAL’s manager, told the Jamaica Observer that Murphy produced the song which is describes as a “cultural track”. He said the actor’s “people reached out to us” to help market and promote the single, which is Murphy’s second reggae number in 18 months. In the summer of 2013, he teamed with rapper Scoop Dogg on the song “Red Light”. In 1993, Murphy collaborated with Grammy-winning deejay Shabba Ranks for the single, “When I Was King”.
