Reggae Sumfest, now into its 20th staging, has also been dubbed a Jamaica 50 event. As such, the producers have arranged for a Jamaica 50 tribute to take the Sumfest patrons on a journey through the musical decades.

To help celebrate the country’s Golden Jubilee, John Holt, Yellowman, U-Roy, Leroy Sibbles, The Mighty Diamonds, Leroy Smart, Derrick Harriott, Frankie Paul and Pinchers are all on board.

The various highly acclaimed artists will bring their unique flavour and add to the Sumfest fire. Undeniably, the show has been set up to be one of the best stagings of the music festival thus far.

Though the event is known for bringing out the stars, ‘The Greatest Reggae Show on Earth’ cannot easily lay claim to having ever had such a vast collection of vintage artists.

Each artist in this line-up has done his or her part in making reggae music a rich part of Jamaican culture.

Patrons are bound to enjoy the musical journey that Reggae Sumfest 2012 will take them on.

The week of activities kicks off with a beach party on July 15 and will be followed up by a Sound Clash night on July 17.

The musical celebration will resume on Thursday, July 19 with the steaming Dancehall Night.

International Night I and II will follow. Reggae Sumfest is sponsored by Digicel, Red Stripe, Iberostar, Jamaica Tourist Board, The Gleaner Company Ltd and Pepsi, and will take place at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.
