The National Library of Jamaica (NLJ) plans to present Legalise It, a collaborative effort with Teddy Laidley Productions on Friday.

Legalise It seeks to encourage local artists to build a sound collection at the National Library of Jamaica by making legal deposits to the library.

The event will also mark the beginning of a partnership between the NLJ and Teddy Laidley Productions. This partnership will see artists deposit copies of their works at Productions’ 58 Dumbarton Avenue location.

By an Act of Parliament, Legal Deposit came into existence 10 years ago. Since then, the National Library has received a number of books, CDs and DVDs, all of which have been instrumental in building the national collection and providing useful information for researchers.
