TWO top Jamaican Reggae acts, Morgan Heritage and Jah Cure, will headline this year’s annual Freedom Concert slated for Independence Eve, Wednesday (Sept. 18) at the Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre.
Well-known Jamaican Gospel singer Carlene Davis is also scheduled to perform along with a host of national artists from St. Kitts- Nevis.
This big announcement was made by the Chairperson of the 30th Independence Anniversary Committee, Sharon Rattan, while speaking at a press conference to make known the events of the National Arts Festival and artists for the Independence Concert.
The press conference was held at the ZIZ Television Studio.
For now, the toss up is between 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. for the start time of the Concert so as to accommodate all of the acts in a timely flow.
Morgan Heritage and Jah Cure are no strangers to the Federation.
Jah Cure last performed in the Federation in 2011 for the 15th annual St. Kitts Music Festival in which he brought an electrifying end to the three-night concert.
Similarly, Morgan Heritage, known as ‘The Royal Family of Reggae’ last appearance was on the 2010 edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival.
However, in April, music lovers got a taste of the Morgan family’s talents as one of the popular lead vocalists of the band, Gramps Morgan along with his son Jemere Morgan (who is not a member of the band) performed at the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s themed ‘Full Confidence’ annual Easter Monday Rally at Black Rocks.
