Kafinal—-
Entertainer Kafinal has scored his first Juno Award nomination.

The upbeat recording artist earned a nod in the Best Reggae Recording category for the song Nah Complain, which features veteran deejay Daddy U-Roy. The nominations were announced earlier this week.

Juno is Canada’s equivalent to the Grammy Awards. It is promoted each year for the past 45 years by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

“I’ve worked tirelessly, especially over the past year, and to know that the work has been acknowledged on this level is very fulfilling,” Kafinal said.

Sing N Act label is credited as the producer of the Nah Complain single, which, last year, did well on several ethnic reggae charts in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Kafinal, real name Jeffery Williams, is originally from Portmore, St Catherine. In 2005, he teamed up with Sambo for the hit Cooking Dat Pwile, a comedic take on US rhythm and blues singer Blu Cantrell’s Hit ‘Em up Style.

Since migrating to Canada, Kafinal has effectively carved out a name for himself on the live stage show circuit, earning the moniker Canada’s Festival King.

His most recent hit, Nuh Lock off Di Dance, is currently riding the Rebelvibez Reggae chart in Canada and the Foundation Network Reggae Top 30 in New York.

Crying Out For Love is the title of his forthcoming single, which features Yellowman and Ken Boothe.

Other nominees in the Juno Best Reggae Recording category are Exco Levi, Kreesha Turner, Lyndon John X and Dubmatik. The award show will take place on April 3 in Calgary, Canada.
