Deejay Future Fambo earns a career milestone this week. He has made the Billboard Reggae Album Chart with Evolve: The Uprise.

Distributed by Blaze Entertainment/Tropical Elec-tronic Productions, it debuts at number two behind Revelation Pt II: The Fruit Of Life.

Fambo (real name Warren Williams), who is in his early 40s, has made a name for himself since 1994. He is not surprised at response to the album.

“I wouldn’t say that I’m surprised, because my team and I have put in so much work over the last year and a half to bring everyone an album I would be proud of,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Evolve: The Uprise has 13 tracks.

“I’ve had hit songs and features most of my career. We wanted to put out an album to show my versatility and creativity. I wanted to show people that I’m way more than just the drinking master, hence the name of my album Evolve: The Uprise,” he said.

Among the producers who worked on the album are IamStylezMusic, Richie Loop, Sisco Kennedy, Magnedo7, Samacon Chin, Reblah Star, Blahzae, and Dane Blake.

“We decided we wanted to work with upcoming producers for this album because I am Future Fambo and I believe youths are the future. In order to bring my vision to life, I had to draw for the new wave of dancehall to help me bring it to reality,” Fambo explained.

Fambo has to date released two albums. His first, Kung Fu, was a Japan-only release in 1994.

Known for the hit songs Drunken Dance, Kung Fu and Rum and Red Bull (featuring Beenie Man), Future Fambo first came to prominence with producer Courtney Cole’s Roof International label in Ocho Rios.

“I started out as a dancer while growing up in Parry Town, St Ann. I was a member of a group called Crazy Boys and we used to dance at the hotels just to survive. It was a Roof International’s Talent Showcase that I entered and deejayed a song called Kung Fu that got me a contract with Roof International. I won the competition finals and recorded the song,” Fambo recalled.

Kung Fu became his first hit in 1994. His follow-up single, China Mi Live, also made local charts.
