Little Kirk—

For more than a decade, singer Little Kirk was a member of Patrick Roberts’ Shocking Vibes label, which managed acts including Beenie Man, Snagga Puss, and Tanto Metro and Devonte. During that stint, he recorded a number of covers, including Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror and I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love (Crystal Gayle).

In 2008, the singer severed ties with Shocking Vibes and turned a new leaf. He became a Christian. Today, Little Kirk said he occasionally releases gospel tracks, but does not limit himself to the genre. “I am a Christian, but I don’t sing just gospel songs. I am also into roots reggae and love songs because God is love. My songs are uplifting,” he said.

The singer is currently promoting two singles called Can’t Hold I Down and That’s The Way Life Is. Produced by Hiya Vibes Records, the songs, he said, hold uplifting messages.

“Can’t Hold I Down is about rising above the obstacles that situations or persons may throw at you,” he said. The latter, That’s The Way Life Is, he said speaks about life expectations.

“I tend to do a lot of roots reggae because I tour Germany a lot and we all know that the European market is into reggae music. Whenever I am not in Jamaica, I am in the Caribbean and Europe mostly,” he said.

Born and raised in Waterhouse, Little Kirk (given name Kirk Davis) entered a community talent contest in 1981 and won. He was subsequently invited by Patrick Roberts to join his Shocking Vibes label. Throughout his career, he released several albums including Ease The Pain, I’m Ready, and Ghetto People Broke.
