A SERIES of frightening attacks against Jamaican women in 2016 resulted in 24 deaths. The trend influenced Tommy Cowan to write Jamaica Belongs To Jesus, a song recorded by his wife Carlene Davis.
Cowan also produced the single, which was recently released by Glory Music.
Davis described the spate of assaults against women and children as “spiritual warfare”.
“It’s not only the women that’s being abused but young children, the elderly, and there are cases where women are also abusing the males, and children,” she added. “When people grieve, I grieve. Just the image of people losing a family member or friend to violence has an impact on me.”
Jamaica Belongs To Jesus is the first single from Davis’s next album, due out in May. Her previous album, Dripping Blood, was released in 2014.
