MAVADO was a “no-show” at yesterday’s questioning session at the Constant Spring Police in St Andrew. A noon deadline was issued by the cops.
Camika Harrison, one of two attorneys-at-law representing the deejay, said he had left the island on Sunday and the police should have been aware of that situation.
“The police has all the necessary resources to check on his whereabouts… They have PICA (Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency), which is at their disposal. They should have known,” she told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
“He has not been in the island for more than 24 hours… He does not live in Jamaica and returned home (to the United States).”
Pierre Rogers is also representing the entertainer.
Harrison said she and Rogers met with a senior cop at the Constant Spring Police yesterday, and arrangements were being made for their client to come in.
Mavado is booked for a show in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday.

“He is very surprised the police are asking for him in that manner, when he was the one who reported that he was shot at… He’s a law-abiding citizen and intends to cooperate with them. He has nothing to do with what is happening inCassava Piece,” Harrison said.
There has been a recent spate of murders in the Cassava Piece community. On Saturday three murders were committed there, while on Tuesday, 23-year-old Lorenza Thomas was shot, chopped and set ablaze by unknown assailants.
Police report that last Saturday Mavado and an individual had an argument around 11:30 am. The person left the scene and returned with a group of men, one of whom fired gunshots at the entertainer who escaped injury. The matter was reported to the Constant Spring Police Station and an individual is being held in connection with the incident.
Harrison shared why the police are interested in Mavado.
“Five men were detained at his Norbrook property… and there is a possibility one of them may be charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, and it’s only a possibility,” she said.
Mavado (given name David Brooks) hails from the Cassava Piece community of St Andrew. He got his big break in 2004 with the song Real McKoy. He is also known for tracks like Weh Dem A Do, Settle Down and Money Changer.
