MAYOR of Kingston Senator Delroy Williams has been invited to speak at the 16th annual CG/LA Infrastructure Inc Latin American and Caribbean Leadership Forum in Miami, Florida.

The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation said in a release yesterday that Williams will be the first mayor from the Caribbean to present at the leadership forum.

CG/LA Infrastructure, Inc is a Washington, DC-based consulting firm dedicated to the creation of public value via consulting, publications and rankings, the release said.

In 2002, CG/LA founded the Leadership Forum Series, which provides a unique opportunity for project sponsors from the public and private sector to meet with decision makers from the finance, engineering, contracting, equipment, technology, and services communities in an open infrastructure marketplace.

This year’s forum is scheduled for July 24 — 26.

President of CG/LA Infrastructure Inc Norman Anderson, in the invitation letter to Williams, described the mayor’s leadership as admirable.

“Your leadership, influence and initiatives serve as a role model for countries throughout the region. Your collaboration with municipalities across the Caribbean, including hosting this year’s Caribbean Conference of Mayors, is admirable,” Anderson stated.

He also described Kingston as one of the most strategic cities for infrastructure in the Caribbean, and as such the participation of its mayor is essential.

The release said Mayor Williams has since indicated that participating in the leadership forum is one of many steps towards positioning Kingston as a leader in the Caribbean and a major player in the Latin American community, which aligns perfectly with his vision of the city.

Other speakers expected at the conference indeviduale: Luis Alberto Moreno, president of the Inter-American Development Bank; Paul Swartz, CEO of USA Architects; and Julio Hector Estrada, finance minister of Guatemala.
