GEORGE NOOKS IS UPBEAT ABOUT HIS NEW ALBUM “FOR YOU!”

 George Nooks —

DESPITE his September 27 court appearance on cocaine charges, George Nooks says he is upbeat about his latest studio effort For You .

“I hope that the case will be resolved soon, but you know how the system is. I just have to wait and see what happens,” George Nooks told the Jamaica Observer.

For is a 16-track lover’s rock album release by Tads Records on August 27. Nooks penned 10 of the songs for the project.

Some musicians who have worked on the Nooks project include Mitchum Chin, Lamont Savoury, Kirk Bennett, Donald Dennis, Sly and Robbie, Owen Reynolds and Karl McLaughlin.

“I am going to shoot a video for Love Light, a Dennis Brown song, later this month,” he said.

Other songs include How Long and Chance of a Lifetime.

“This is the first time in 15 years that I have done a lover’s rock album. A lot of time and effort went into this and I am pleased with the response so far as the album start off with a bang as the songs are getting play on several reggae radio stations and clubs, especially in Europe. Right now, I am looking to finalize some shows in Europe to support the album,” he said.

In May last year, the police reported that 56-year-old Nooks was spotted acting in a suspicious manner by lawmen during an operation in his community shortly after 9:00 pm. He was accosted and a bag he was carrying searched. The bag was found to contain approximately two ounces of cocaine and the singer was charged with cocaine possession.

Nooks has consistently maintained his innocence. He is being represented by Queen’s Counsel Tom Tavares-Finson and Donahue Martin Junior in an ongoing case before the courts.
